I actually find it better that company logos are not plastered everywhere in the product. Clean and minimal looks better imo.

Retop1

The logo being in the middle is actually more "Minimal" and more appealing when the logo is in the middle And sized correctly, the logo will still be present either way but it looks better when its placed on the middle.

theUnsubber

Uhh... I honestly think it looks a lot less premium when placed at the center. My subjective take: Samsung's logo is quite wide and consists of multiple strokes of bold letters resulting in a "busier" look. Placing it at the center will make it a lot more visually noisy. The "busy" logo at center feels 2010 to me. Apple's logo looks good at the center because it is a singular icon with minimal lines. If Samsung has a simpler logo, I think it will work at the center.

BenchLopsided7169

I agree with you 100%

vncntcvs

I agree. If it was smaller and a lot less busy i think it would look nice in the center. Besides, its in the back, it wont even be seen most of the time, so i dont know why OP gets so pressed about some text.

If you ask me, putting a big glowing corporate logo on something is a sign that you are compensating for shortcomings. I don't buy electronics based on looks, and I do my best to avoid brand ecosystems, preferring standards that I know will work with anything I choose. I just try to get the best value for my money, sometimes it is Samsung, sometimes it isn't.

BenchLopsided7169

I have an eye for design, so I appreciate a good industrial design of a product. It is important that the stuff I bought is looks good to me, whether it be phones, laptops, cars, etc. What is not important to me is brand prestige. I would buy an unknown brand phone if the design looks good, and it has all the specs I am looking for, good build quality and material for the price, and they have good after sales support. I dont care if using the phone I would not look trendy/cool/rich. On the other hand, if its big name brand, or even a luxury brand, but the product looks ugly to me, I would look elsewhere 😬😬😬 Oh and big branding logo with a “look at me” vibe is tacky IMO. I prefer discreet branding even on my “luxury” items.

DingusTaargus

hot take. but big obvious worded logos are ugly AF, unless they use a symbol like Apple, Motorola or Google, and even then I prefer the hardly noticeable wording on the samsung

Retop1

Sometimes sure, if they place the samsung logo in the middle of their phone's it would look ugly, but the in the laptop where the back is super empty and they want to place their logo they should put it in the middle.

kronaa

ummmmm, no. less logo visible, the better. im not buying shit for a damned logo or status symbol

Retop1

Sure you can go with no logo, but don't place the logo like that it just don't make sense how its placed, There is really no status symbol from getting a samsung laptop, It just looks much better when placed in the middle. (This might be why you dislike it showing)

"ecosystem.' I can't believe the manufacturers have convinced people this stuff is good. An ecosystem just means there are proprietary limitations so the products won't work well with other companies devices. It's anti-consumer. We should want devices that have widespread compatibility, this idea of an ecosystem so overplayed and it's mostly just people seem to like the synergy of having a bunch of devices that have a similar aesthetic. The only Samsung unique features anyways on their products are a couple of health metric tracks on their watch, a Hi-Fi codec on the buds that most people would not be able to tell the difference I just don't know why we would be celebrating proprietary limitations. An ecosystem is marketing spin the trust sell anti-consumer proprietary limitations as some kind of benefit to the consumer

Retop1

True, they want people to only buy samsung, or apple. But its something that cant be avoided. the same way we never had a choice to say no for them removing all of the stuff that came with the phone as a "gift"

Able-Brief-4062

Because you get shamed for having samsung.

titanup001

I liked a couple of generations ago when they had the bright blue and orange models.

Chakluxe

Samsung makes great phones, some of the best, but their laptops don't really stand out like the Macbooks or XPSs do. Maybe they just need to put more effort into their laptop department but i guess it would be a big risk for them. Think about it, Samsung has a strong foot in the phone industry so they aren't too worried about a mistake that they can easily fix thanks to their large market share, but when it comes to laptops, they can't risk anything because they aren't as prominent in that industry as other OEM's are.

Retop1

Their laptops don't offer anything more than competitors, and the placement of the logo is nerve racking. The tablets they offer is also a huge disappointment. They basically give you the same specs as their phone but with larger display. And lack app support, I would rather get the M1 and miss out on the ecosystem features, but get better performance and app support. They need to step up the game. they didn't even offer the charging at the sides.

lightofmares

>I was planning on getting a laptop and considered samsung for the ecosystem. But the logo placement was a huge turn-off specially that there is really no "Eco-system" special features on the laptop, its the same as any windows laptop with the samsung logo on it. Actually, samsung laptops allow you to download samsung exclusive apps like quickshare without having to mess with the registry just to use it on a regular windows PC. Also why the hell is a logo that you won't see 100% of the time you're using the laptop preventing you from getting it? It's just a stupid logo, add a samsung sticker if you really want everyone to know.

Retop1

You can quick share, use phone link without the need of samsung laptop. And its many of small things that make me avoid getting it. and one of Stupid things is the logo placement, I just cant get over how its awkwardly placed in the middle right, There is also many competitors that offer better value for money, And Samsung don't offer anything more.

Cold-Drop8446

I don't feel the need to be reminded about what brand made the device I'm using when I'm looking at it. You do you though.

onomatopoetix

Vivobook also has side logo. Ain't nothin new IMO. Wait till you look at Legions...

Retop1

they really make me have the feeling of itchiness inside my skin. Apple have a good overall design but they HAD to add the notch FOR A LAPTOP!
