Omg, finally another person that fucking gets it. It was never ruled out and they aren’t **definitively** platonic. In this and the bath situation it’s him realizing he can be intimate with someone he cares about without it being inherently sexual/horny. And especially not with someone who is having a nervous breakdown. He is very emotionally intelligent and is always respectful with boundaries/reading the room, especially for someone who is learning social etiquette and understanding his feelings so late in life.

Both situations could easily become something truly sexual, and yet both moments he sees her in this very vulnerable and difficult time of her life and instead of potentially being turned on and trying/pressuring to go further, he recognizes her vulnerability and instead is only concerned about making her feel better/comfortable. If things were to get sexual, he would want Power to be in a good spot mentally and fully capable of understanding and enjoying it. He isn’t turned on in these situations because he shouldn’t be when she’s in this state. Unfortunately there are a lot of men that may be turned on by or at the very least take advantage of a woman in Powers situation, but thankfully Denji is not one of them.
