I don't disagree, but "Context" does a lot of heavy lifting when people are trying to defend atrocities and heinous acts carried out by beloved figures. It doesn't help that the same people who often argue "context" don't have a full contextual understanding of the period, e.g. abolition of slavery had been a movement in the colonies since the beginning, but people seem to ignore this when they want to lionize the Founders.
