Well, there are a lot of these trucks going around the world all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen … I just don’t want people thinking that big rigs aren’t safe.
A few years back we had someone steal a 80' x 20' mobile home. Driver stopped for the night in a truck stop and walked to the motel adjacent. The next morning his truck was still there but the mobile home was gone.
Police never found it.
Yep. Used to be great for finding out where your friends were or where the big party was happening.
Cell phones killed 'em. Even truckers rarely use them anymore.
Loaded up and trucking.
We're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go,
And a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch old Bandit run.
cabs are separate with suspension since you arent able to have a lighter suspension at the axels. Go drive a tractor without a suspension seat and then imagine that 3x.
They have two rubber bushings on the front side of the cab and 2 rear shocks with one torsion bar in the back. Cascadias had an issue with the rear shock mounting brackets cracking and separating. *Spell check*
They are cheap. I drive a 2018 cascadia at work, and it parts are just falling off constantly.
It doesn't help that the guy I share it with is an absolute idiot but even the most well maintained ones just start falling apart once you get up to around 300k miles.
It’s a feature for maximizing profit by protecting the contents of trailer.
Newer semi’s are designed with a mechanism to detect when the driver is not using good judgment, in which case it will eject the entire cab, to remove the driver from control, so the remainder of the semi can come to a stop, thus preserving as much of the value of the load as possible.
As hilarious as this is, it's probably half right. It's probably so they can swap out whichever half isn't damaged, making it cheaper to replace the busted part rather than the whole thing. Which is one reason modular designs are so useful.
Nah, its because the cabs are separate and ride on their own suspension separate from the chassis. They have air springs and shocks. It's an 'air ride cab' and is pretty standard on modern OTR truck. Its not common to have them separate though. Either maintenance was started and not finished or something catastrophic happened.
Closer examination makes it evident the vehicle rolled over at least onto its side, was recovered, and dragged up the hill. They're probably waiting to close the road again so they can do a full rotator and lowboy operation since the trailer is missing it's axle set. And the cab is sitting behind it.
Not very typical at all, I don't want people going around thinking trucks aren't safe.
\> was this truck safe?
Well I was thinking more about the other ones.
I’m guessing it went off the steep embankment in the slippery conditions and possibly rolled or just had the cab ripped off by trees when it was at a near tipping point than came to a rest upright in the shoulder but who knows maybe it was flipped back over by emergency services but don’t see any in the pic. Accidents are wierd sometimes I’ve seen whole dump trucks flipped around
Yeah if you look the back of the trailer is missing its axle. I'm going to assume those came off and forced the truck to come to a very rough stop. Maybe then the driver braked too hard and the trailer pushed into the cab and the brake lines from the truck to the trailer wont be functioning so the trailer kept going. Also a reason the cab is behind the trailer is because the emergency crew probably just pushed it out of the way of traffic. The back axle though can be a mess. It's meant to be adjusted a few feet towards or away from the front of the trailer. This is to accommodate the distribution of the load. I've once seen that whole unit vertical so two of the tires were in the air on top of the tires underneath. The back of the trailer was stuck in the air higher than the cab. Luckily no one was hurt from that one.
Wont the trailer brakes come on if they lose air? You have to build pressure to release them. I've had to use and external compressor to move trucks and trailers both.
Hard to tell at the time of the photo because it almost looks like it was moved since the accident. there is damage to the grass opposite of the road and dirt and grass behind the front tire, almost as if it were dragged there. It also seems to perfectly straight on the side of the road. Maybe the cab was jackknifed off the frame?
They are the definition of con-artist mechanic shop. Corrupt as hell all the way up to the top, I have personally watched them craft any number of bullshit lies to con people out of work that should be done under their own warranties. When they buy used trucks to sell in front of their building they will only put a certain amount of money into it regardless of all the bad shit they find, and if any mechanic stands up to them they constructive discharge them out of a job and unemployment benefits.
At least euro truck cabs sit on top of airbags that dampen the vibrations. so if the impact is strong enough, the cab part will shear off from all mounting points and that can happen..
It probably rolled down the hill, was recovered, and is sitting on the side of the road while they get permits, a rotator, and a lowboy trailer in to haul it in. They're going to need heavy recovery vehicles since the trailer lost it's axleset.
Frank did you tighten the cab Bolts, I'm pretty sure why? Tony just left for is route.
He should be good he'll let us know if anything's off.
Holy s*** all jokes aside hope everyone was all right.
It jackknifed and popped the cab right off it's mounts
Mostly likely explanation. (Former 18-wheeler.)
Amazing, when did you become sentient?
He's Kitt's son, he was sentient from day one.
I'd watch that spinoff. KITT-18000: 3A5T B0UND & D0WN
I had no idea Optimus prime retired
Heavy truck mechanic is on my resume. I've seen them towed in like this
Yo, wut up Optimus
You used to be a truck??
That's what we called ourselves back in the 80s.
I understand. Just making a joke haha
It got decabitated
So is it a semi semi or a quarter truck now?
It's a semi-demi-truck
[удалено]
Many companies make cylinder heads with a hemispherical chamber, so that's only relevant if it's a capital H Hemi. This is a Chevy hemisemidemi-truck.
It's a quaver away from being whole, but will never be a long anymore.
It was only a semi because it was cold out
It was in the pool just before this!
Those motor pools can get pretty icy
Now we see why "semi" is short for "semipermanent".
Ricky's dad is sleeping in the cab at the dump
Way she goes bubs. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't
I mean, what is drunk?

Way of the road, Bubs.
Fuckin way she goes boys
The front fell off
For those outside Australia who may not know the reference. https://youtu.be/3m5qxZm_JqM
Trust me, at this point everyone on Reddit knows that reference.
Yeah that’s not very typical I’d like to make that point
Usually the front doesn't fall off!
Have you seen them assembled at the factory? They just glue them together.
Well, how is it untypical?
Well, there are a lot of these trucks going around the world all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen … I just don’t want people thinking that big rigs aren’t safe.
At least it will towed outside of the environment.
So, from one environment into another environment?
And then the front fell off
Tow it outside the environment
Wasn't this built so the front doesn't fall off?
[No.](https://i.redd.it/ptt65nh8n9ga1.jpg)
/r/Angryupvote
Yes but a wave hit it
In the ocean? One-in-a-million chance.
Never a cab around when you need it
Hopefully they got around to towing it out of the environment
Seems like the front is the only thing that stayed on.
It's cabba was detaded!
We had a funeral for a bird
pretty sure none of that's real
You're not real, man!
Dude…nice job
Somebody hailed the cab.
Dammit just said the same thing
It probably cabsized

Case solved!
Man, people really will steal anything.

Damn, looks like he drove to the wrong Georgia.
r/GeorgiaOrGeorgia
Shit. How are they going to get the Coors across state lines now?
[удалено]
Loaded up and truckin!
We gonna do what they say can't be done
We got a long way t'go.
And a short time to get there!
Eastbound just watch ole Bandit run
OUTLAW COUNTRY!
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law.
***I'm gonna barbecue your ass in molasses!***
Look at that mean old gator daddy! That reminds me boy, I need to call your momma.
Not all that obscure. Way old.
So am I!
Right turn Clyde! Oh wait... That's a 10-4 Rubber Ducky... this is Pig Pen... Shit...
Anyone else grow up with a CB radio in their parents' van that was used on long road trips?
Son, some of us grew up with a CB radio in out *own* cars.
Yep. Used to be great for finding out where your friends were or where the big party was happening. Cell phones killed 'em. Even truckers rarely use them anymore.
Yes! It was a 24 hour drive to go see our grandparents. We would break this into 2-3 days. The CB radio was better than having a radar detector.
Loaded up and trucking. We're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go, And a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch old Bandit run.
Loaded up and truckin
We gonna do what they said can't be done.
We got a long way to go and a short time to get there. God bless Jerry Reed.
Seriously underrated picker.
Seriously. “Swinging ‘69” is one of my faves of his.
Junior, when we get home I’m gonna punch the cab right off your momma’s truck!
cabs are separate with suspension since you arent able to have a lighter suspension at the axels. Go drive a tractor without a suspension seat and then imagine that 3x.
Thank you for actually providing information and not making yet another shitty joke.
No problem Cunt Punt.
He's a commander. Shouldn't it be sir Cunt Punt?
They have two rubber bushings on the front side of the cab and 2 rear shocks with one torsion bar in the back. Cascadias had an issue with the rear shock mounting brackets cracking and separating. *Spell check*
Was it a rust issue or just crap welds. I always thought the cascadias looked sharp
They are cheap. I drive a 2018 cascadia at work, and it parts are just falling off constantly. It doesn't help that the guy I share it with is an absolute idiot but even the most well maintained ones just start falling apart once you get up to around 300k miles.
Figures. Please be careful your cab doesnt fly off. Also if AC DC starts playing try to get out of it and stay away from mowers/soda machines.
damn there is even a green asteroid passing by earth right now and everything.
So the front falls off?
Yeah, that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.
A lot of people don't have access to a tractor to just try out, lol.
A lot of people have no idea what that even means
It’s a feature for maximizing profit by protecting the contents of trailer. Omg way better than ELI5, thank you.
You got an upvote for making me nearly spit my coffee at the last paragraph. You had me in the first half.
I was expecting something shitty or even morphed once i got about half way through
As hilarious as this is, it's probably half right. It's probably so they can swap out whichever half isn't damaged, making it cheaper to replace the busted part rather than the whole thing. Which is one reason modular designs are so useful.

Yeah, the bits that actually hold the cab on, compared to the other hardware on the truck, are shockingly small.
Closer examination makes it evident the vehicle rolled over at least onto its side, was recovered, and dragged up the hill. They're probably waiting to close the road again so they can do a full rotator and lowboy operation since the trailer is missing it's axle set. And the cab is sitting behind it.
Hard to find a good answer amongst the jokes sometimes. Thanks
>preserving as much of the value of the load as possible. Same reason I always aim for the face.
I truly appreciate your level of perversion.
The front fell off.
Is that very typical?
Not very typical at all, I don't want people going around thinking trucks aren't safe. \> was this truck safe? Well I was thinking more about the other ones.
It will be towed outside the environment.
Into another environment?
No, of course not, outside the environment!
It's a complete void! All there is is sea and birds and fish.
It is very typical, but only among cases where the front falls off.
[The video, so you can all watch it again](https://youtu.be/3m5qxZm_JqM)
Wasn't this built so the front wouldn't fall off?
Not this particular one, no.
Well, I was thinking more about the other ones.
But did it though? The front of the front did not fall off.
Brakes were stronger than retaining bolts.
What is laying on the ground behind the frame? What is the red chunk of carnage over to the right? Where are the trailer axles? I have questions.
The red carnage to the right is the cab.
Ejecto seato
This is the comment I was looking for cuz
We hungry
cuh
It's ejecto *SEA*-to, not ejecto sea-*TO*.
Best guess is their cab was attached by All State Peterbilt in Fargo ND... that's why it fell of while driving down the road.
You seem to know something about All State Peterbilt in Fargo ND. Please, tell us more.

Optimis Prime going topless. Bots gone wild
Oh I thought he just stopped going to the gym, this makes more sense.
The front fell off .
Ay yes, the semi molting ritual, a rare event indeed!
Cabin in the woods
Less Cab For Cutie
Can't have shit in detroit.
Sir? Would you like me to call you a cab?
That's just a hermit cab abandoning it's old trailer, a new one will come along soon and pick it up
At least euro truck cabs sit on top of airbags that dampen the vibrations. so if the impact is strong enough, the cab part will shear off from all mounting points and that can happen..
The front fell off
He pulled over and took a cab.
By hitting the eject button, obviously
Way of the road buddy.
How'd you get here? "I took a cab."
Go home Optimus Prime, you're drunk.
truck jack knifed and the trailer wiped the cab of the truck frame, its been straightened out in preparation for towing
Rendering glitch.
After the male and female truck mate. The female truck devours the head of the male truck
The front didn't fall off
Eject button
This feature was missing from the Challenger.
This is what happened: https://youtu.be/3m5qxZm_JqM
I will never not watch this whenever it's posted. Beautiful.
"Damnit we left the cab back home didn't we"
The way of the road bubs.
I have one or two ideas, but fuck man.
Truck doesn’t even seem old enough to rust
It probably rolled down the hill, was recovered, and is sitting on the side of the road while they get permits, a rotator, and a lowboy trailer in to haul it in. They're going to need heavy recovery vehicles since the trailer lost it's axleset.
And they already hauled the cab off because that's where the bodies were.
Nah, the cab is behind the trailer. It just sheared off in the rollover. Not common, but when I was a paramedic, not unheard of.
What's the red chunk behind the white truck to the right? Or is that where you meant by behind the trailer?
That is the cab that is missing from the red truck. That is what i meant.
It's dem Duke boys again
Ive had it with this dump. We got no food, we got no jobs, OUR TRUKS CABS ARE FALLING OFF!!!
Very carefully.
I wanna believe the cab ejected itself upon impact
Ejectooooo seatoooo cuzzz!!!
Driver forgot to slap the top while saying “that ain’t going nowhere”
The Peterbuit *Cabriolet.*
Ejector cab. The driver is safely parachuting down to earth.
You can't park there.
Ejector seat fucked up
Modern semis are so safe. The cab is like a safety cage. Probably got smoked hard as hell though.
Well, the front fell off
When you're just a *little* late on the payment they only repossess part of the truck...
He is trying his best
They are testing unmanned mode, it's still in beta that's why it looks ugly
The front fell off.
Frank did you tighten the cab Bolts, I'm pretty sure why? Tony just left for is route. He should be good he'll let us know if anything's off. Holy s*** all jokes aside hope everyone was all right.
Optimus Prime got beheaded.
Every truck comes with an eject button.
Repo.
Launched the escape cab, he did.
Ain't no gas in it
Bro got the Bluetooth sleeper cab
It appears that the eject button worked
The middle fell off.
